UCB
As UCB Australia prepared for a new phase of growth, the opportunity emerged to create a workplace that could better support its people while reflecting the organisation’s identity and ambitions.
Contour Interiors was engaged to deliver a new office environment that would accommodate an increasing headcount, improve day-to-day functionality, and provide a more compelling experience for staff. The brief called for a space that balanced operational efficiency with a strong sense of culture, while embedding UCB’s sustainability values in a practical and meaningful way.
Working closely with UCB, Contour developed a planning approach centred on clarity, flow, and connection. The workplace is organised as a seamless journey, where soft transitions and layered zones guide movement through a variety of settings, from quiet retreat areas to collaborative spaces. Workstations are positioned along the perimeter to maximise access to natural light and views, while shared spaces are oriented to connect with the surrounding environment, including the integration of the outdoor balcony into the overall workplace experience.
Sustainability played a central role in shaping the outcome. Rather than reworking the space entirely, existing built forms were carefully retained and adapted, reducing material waste while aligning with UCB’s environmental objectives. This approach ensured that sustainability was embedded in the delivery of the project, not just expressed as an idea.
The material palette and spatial language were resolved to reflect UCB’s brand in a considered and immersive way, creating an environment that feels cohesive, grounded, and distinctly their own.
The result is a balanced and engaging workplace that supports UCB’s growth, enhances the day-to-day experience of its people, and provides a space that the team can connect with and use with purpose.
